The Undoing
Talos Enclave
Talos is a regional military power and a major trade hub in what was once the United States of America. This relative safety has caused Talos to also be known as the "Oasis."
The Talos Enclave is governed by the Directing Council, a group of ten leaders elected by enclave residents to serve staggered three-year terms. The Directing Council in turn elects a Chief Director from among its number to preside over the council and serve as the Voice of Talos.
The Super Project
At the root of Talos' success after the Undoing was the recruitment, training, and effective utilization of "supers." Supers are individuals who are able to not only survive exposure to miasma but use it to manifest super powers. The name comes from pre-Undoing fictional characters called super heroes.
The Super Project falls under the purview of the Director of Security, more frequently referred to as the Aegis. The current Aegis is Rebekah Berg. She has five deputy directors that report to her, each with their own portfolio of concerns. It is these deputy directors that manage missions.
Black Gorge Enclave
The Sapient Council
The Sapient Council (often just called Sapient) was formed with the goal of preventing the further spread of rifts and the miasma. It has a key directive maintaining neutrality between various enclaves and is to take no part in politics.
Sapient employs three types of specialists to help fulfill its mission.
Scholars dedicated themselves to learning everything they can about how miasma and rifts work
Rift Wardens and their teams keep an eye on known rifts and are tasked with eliminating threats that come through
Rift Riders undertake expeditions to discover undocumented rifts
Tine Nua
The Tine Nua is a new terrorist group operating in and around the region. They are an offshoot of larger cells, the T-Outcasts and the True Citizens in particular, after disagreement over tactics, targets, and rules of engagement. Mainly the need for any constraints at all.
Tine Nua means "New Fire" in a rough translation of old Gaelic Irish and was selected based on a certain kinship felt with the old Irish Republican Army. A number of the members have Irish lineage, and many have chosen classic Irish names to represent themselves: Murphy, Seamus, Cillian, Saoirse, Riordan to name a few.
In addition, the group appears to have an obsession with fire. In most attacks fires have been set prior to execution and firebombs have been used. The Tine Nua believe that enclaves, and Talos in particular, offer security in exchange for a loss of rights. They wish to "free" people by removing enclave protections.
